vivo X500s tipped with 2K 144Hz display

A report claims vivo is testing an X500s with a 6.85-inch 2K-plus 144Hz screen, but the company has not confirmed the phone.

The vivo X500s may be the next member of vivo’s flagship phone family, according to a new report based on information from tipster Digital Chat Station. The unannounced handset is said to be in testing with a large, high-resolution display, but vivo has not confirmed the model or its specifications.12

What the leak claims

The engineering sample is reportedly fitted with a 6.85-inch flat screen with a resolution above 2K, a 144Hz refresh rate and equal-width bezels on all four sides. Digital Chat Station is also said to have described the device as a “large-screen all-rounder”. The X500s name comes from the interpretation of those details rather than a formal product announcement from vivo.1

If the identification is correct, the display would be slightly larger and sharper than the vivo X300s, which launched with a 6.78-inch 1260 by 2800 LTPO AMOLED panel and a 144Hz refresh rate. The reported size and refresh rate also line up with the X500 Pro Max, suggesting that vivo could be reusing some of the family’s display ambitions in a lower-positioned or differently configured model.1

The same report links the possible phone to a wider X500 Ultra launch window, rumoured for China between March and April. That connection is speculative, however. No reliable details about the X500s chipset, cameras, battery, price or release markets have been established, and vivo has not published a product page for the device.12

What vivo has officially shown

vivo’s official X500 campaign currently promotes the X500 Pro and X500 Pro Max, including their camera systems and launch offers. Those products are real members of the current family, but the official campaign does not confirm that the phone shown in its artwork is an X500s. The image used here is therefore contextual artwork for the X500 range, not a photograph of the rumoured handset.2

That distinction matters with early phone leaks. A high-end display specification can be genuine, misidentified or changed before launch, while a name inferred from comments is not the same as a confirmation from the manufacturer. Until vivo publishes the model or provides a launch announcement, the X500s should be treated as a rumour rather than an announced product.

Our opinion

A 6.85-inch 2K-plus panel at 144Hz would make the alleged X500s an interesting large-screen variant, but the leak is still too thin to support firm conclusions about the phone. The most useful development is the possibility that vivo is testing a broader X500 line; the least certain is the X500s label itself. Readers should treat the display details as provisional until vivo confirms the device.
