Samsung has launched the Galaxy A08 in India, adding a budget handset with a 6,000mAh battery, a 6.7-inch-class display and a starting price of INR 18,499 for the 4GB/64GB model. The phone is available through Samsung’s official online store and other retail partners.12

Galaxy A08 specifications

The Galaxy A08 uses a 6,000mAh typical-capacity battery with support for 25W wired charging. Samsung’s product page lists a 6.7-inch LCD display with a 90Hz refresh rate, while the phone is powered by MediaTek’s Helio G99+ chipset. Storage is expandable through a microSD card, with support for cards up to 2TB according to the reported specifications.12

The rear camera system combines a 50MP main camera with a 2MP depth sensor. An 8MP camera sits in the waterdrop notch on the front. The handset also includes a side-mounted fingerprint reader, an IP64 rating and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Samsung lists Dark Blue, Green and Silver colour options for the Indian market.12

The launch model is the 4GB/64GB configuration, priced at INR 18,499. Samsung’s own store also presents the phone with One UI software and a range of Galaxy ecosystem features, although availability and exact specifications can vary by market. The official product page says the battery’s rated minimum capacity is lower than its typical 6,000mAh figure, which is standard practice for phone battery labelling.2

Updates and availability

Samsung’s India product page says the Galaxy A08 is eligible for up to six generations of operating-system upgrades and up to six years of security updates from its first global launch date, subject to the company’s stated conditions. That gives the phone a longer support promise than many budget models, but the wording does not mean every feature or service is identical in every region.2

The Indian launch follows the phone’s earlier appearance in selected markets. Samsung has not positioned the A08 as a performance flagship: its appeal is the combination of a large battery, a high-refresh-rate screen, expandable storage and a relatively low entry price.12

Our opinion

The Galaxy A08’s strongest argument is practical rather than flashy. A 6,000mAh battery, microSD expansion and a headphone jack address everyday concerns that more expensive phones increasingly ignore. The Helio G99+ and 90Hz LCD make the limits clear, but at INR 18,499 the phone is aimed at buyers who value endurance and familiar essentials over premium cameras or peak performance.
