Timex’s Looney Tunes watch hides a rotating character disc

Timex’s £155 Looney Tunes collaboration gives the Waterbury Standard a rotating character disc featuring Bugs Bunny and friends.

Timex Looney Tunes Bugs and Friends Standard watch with Bugs Bunny and character artwork

Timex has turned its everyday Waterbury Standard into a Looney Tunes collaboration with one particularly fun mechanical-looking flourish: the Bugs and Friends x Timex Standard (TW2Y99100) places a rotating character disc above the hands. As the disc moves, the window reveals different members of the Looney Tunes cast, including Tweety, Sylvester, Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote and Marvin the Martian. Carrot graphics join Bugs Bunny on the dial.12

The watch keeps the familiar, wearable shape of a 40mm Waterbury-style timepiece. Timex pairs a silver-tone case and white dial with a black fabric slip-through strap, while green-outlined Arabic numerals and luminous details keep the display legible after dark. The first-party product page shows the watch in campaign and wrist shots, including the colourful character artwork used for this story's hero.1

Under the cartoon styling, this is a straightforward quartz watch rather than a collector-grade mechanical novelty. It uses a battery-powered analogue movement, Timex's Indiglo backlight and 50-metre water resistance. That makes the rotating window a visual and thematic feature, not a sign that the watch is hiding a complicated automatic calibre.12

The British Timex store lists the TW2Y99100 at £155. Notebookcheck reports US pricing of $189, with availability also listed for EU countries at €179 and India at ₹18,495.12 Regional pricing and stock can change, so those figures are best treated as the launch prices shown by the two sources rather than a promise of universal availability.

Our opinion

This is a much better fit for the Waterbury name than a watch that simply prints a logo on the dial. The rotating character display gives the collaboration a reason to exist, and the Bugs Bunny artwork is visible without making the timepiece impossible to wear with ordinary clothes. It is still a conventional quartz watch, but that is arguably the point: the playful detail gets to do the work instead of a bloated list of specifications.

The main question is taste. Anyone wanting a quiet dress watch should look elsewhere, while Looney Tunes fans get an instantly recognisable design at a price below many fashion-led collaborations. The character window is a small idea, but it is specific enough to make this Waterbury feel like a proper campaign piece rather than a standard watch with a licensed dial slapped on afterwards.
