Timex launches Bugs Bunny M79 automatic watch globally
Timex’s Bugs Bunny M79 Automatic is now available globally, pairing a 40mm M79 watch with a carrot-shaped seconds hand.
Timex has launched its Looney Tunes x Timex M79 Automatic globally, bringing Bugs Bunny to a 40mm stainless-steel watch with a carrot-shaped seconds hand. The collaboration is now available through Timex’s official US, UK and EU stores, with prices listed at $369, £310 and €359 respectively. 12
The watch keeps the M79’s retro dive-watch styling but gives the dial a very different personality. Bugs Bunny appears at 6 o’clock, while the carrot seconds hand turns the cartoon partnership into a functional detail rather than a logo simply printed across the face. 1
What the Bugs Bunny M79 includes
The TW2Y99200 uses a Miyota 8205 automatic movement with a stated 42-hour power reserve. It has a day-date display, an exhibition case back, luminous hands and markers, a unidirectional rotating bezel and 50-metre water resistance. The case measures 40mm, with a stainless-steel bracelet and a domed acrylic crystal. 12
Timex’s official product page shows the watch alongside Bugs Bunny artwork, making the collaboration’s visual pitch immediately clear. The product is positioned as a signature edition rather than a limited technical experiment: the familiar M79 case supplies the watchmaking foundation, while the black dial and carrot hand do the character work.
The global launch follows an earlier India debut. Timex’s regional product pages now list the watch for shoppers in the US, UK and EU, while the official store gives the US price as $369. Availability and pricing can vary by market, but the release is no longer confined to a single regional launch. 1
Our opinion
The appealing part of this collaboration is that Bugs Bunny is built into the watch’s design language instead of being treated as a sticker applied at the last minute. The carrot-shaped seconds hand is a small touch, but it gives the M79 a reason to exist beyond a familiar character image. That makes the watch feel more considered than a standard co-branded dial.
It is still a $369 character watch, so the premium is doing some of the work that a collector normally expects from exclusivity or complicated mechanics. The Miyota 8205 is a known, practical automatic movement rather than a novelty engine. But for buyers who want a wearable Looney Tunes reference without abandoning a conventional stainless-steel watch, the M79’s balance of restraint and silliness is unusually well judged. 12
