Fujitsu FMV Note U UX-L3 weighs just 634g

Fujitsu’s FMV Note U UX-L3 weighs about 634g, packs a Core Ultra 7 processor and launches in Japan in November.

Fujitsu has unveiled the FMV Note U UX-L3, a 14-inch laptop that weighs about 634g and is positioned as the lightest model in its class according to the company. The Japanese launch is scheduled for 13 November 2026, with pricing still undisclosed; Notebookcheck estimates a price of roughly ¥260,000, or about $1,700. 12

A laptop built around low weight

The UX-L3 uses a carbon-fibre body and is designed to meet MIL-STD-810H durability testing for drops, shock, pressure, dust, humidity and temperature extremes. Fujitsu says the lid can withstand 200kgf of pressure, although that should be read as a description of the test programme rather than a promise that every real-world accident will leave a laptop untouched. 12

Inside is Intel’s eight-core, eight-thread Core Ultra 7 355 processor, paired with 16GB of LPDDR5X-7467 memory and a 512GB PCIe SSD. Its integrated NPU is rated for up to 49 TOPS of AI compute, supporting Windows Copilot and other accelerated features. The 14-inch matte display runs at 1,920 × 1,200, and the laptop includes Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, HDMI, Ethernet, two USB-A ports, two USB-C ports, a microSD card slot and a headphone jack. 2

Fujitsu rates the 31Wh battery for 7.5 hours of video playback under the JEITA 3.0 test standard. The supplied charger weighs 148g and can add about 80% charge in an hour, according to the company. A fingerprint sensor, privacy shutter and AI-assisted noise cancellation round out a feature list aimed at people who work away from a desk. 12

Japan first, global questions later

The FMV Note U UX-L3 is due to launch in Japan, and Fujitsu has not announced a price in the available material. That leaves the headline weight as the obvious attraction, but it also means buyers elsewhere should not assume an international release. The company’s official product page presents the UX-L3 within the wider Note U family, including other configurations with different processors, touch support and battery capacities. 1

Our opinion

At 634g, the UX-L3 is compelling for travellers who value a real keyboard and full laptop ports but dislike carrying even a typical 1kg machine. The compromises are equally clear: a small battery, a Japan-focused launch and a price likely to sit well above mainstream ultrabooks. It is an intriguing engineering exercise today, but its appeal outside Japan will depend on availability, keyboard layout and whether Fujitsu can preserve that weight in an international configuration.
