Verizon bundles safety, family and AI perks into its plans

Verizon is highlighting Digital Secure, family tools, Google AI Pro and loyalty rewards as benefits for eligible customers.

Verizon has highlighted the safety, family, artificial-intelligence and loyalty benefits available with its plans, including several services it says customers can use at no extra cost. The carrier’s announcement places everyday account extras — rather than network speed — at the centre of its pitch. 1

The included services

The safety bundle includes the free tier of Verizon Digital Secure, which is designed to protect connected devices from malicious websites and vulnerabilities. Verizon also says customers can use Verizon Family, including location sharing and Safe Walk, while Call Filter helps identify and block spam calls. The company describes Call Filter as a “personal bouncer for your smartphone”. 1

Eligible customers can claim six months of Google AI Pro at no charge, according to Verizon. The offer is tied to eligible plans, so it is not a universal benefit for every Verizon customer and will depend on the account and line involved. Verizon’s support material explains that the perk can be added to qualifying mobile or home internet accounts. 2

The carrier has also promoted Verizon Loyalty, which is available to postpaid customers across phone and connected-device plans who opt in. The programme waives activation and upgrade fees, offers 3% back in Verizon Dollars and adds access to Verizon Shine competitions, daily drops and event experiences. Verizon says the fee waiver can save up to $40 per device.

Our opinion

Verizon’s list is useful, but “free” needs a little translation: eligibility, activation and opt-in rules still matter. The strongest part is the practical safety layer, while the Google AI Pro offer is more compelling for customers who would pay for it anyway. Before treating these perks as a reason to switch, check the exact plan terms and the point at which any introductory period ends.
