Verizon offers $100 gift card for delayed iPhone Duo orders
Some Verizon customers waiting for an iPhone Duo are seeing delivery dates slip, with a $100 gift card promised as compensation.
Verizon is apologising to some customers whose iPhone Duo pre-orders have been delayed, and says affected buyers will receive a $100 gift card. The carrier told customers that an “unexpected shipping delay” means some deliveries will take longer than originally estimated.1
Customers were initially given launch-day delivery estimates, but some have since seen their dates move into late October or November. MacRumors reports that not every Verizon order is affected: some customers received the foldable phone on 23 October, while others remain stuck with revised estimates.1
What Verizon is offering
The carrier says affected customers will receive an email about the gift card next week. The $100 Verizon gift card can be used online or in stores for bill payments or merchandise. Verizon also told customers that their orders remain secure, their place in line has not changed and its team is tracking shipments.1
The delay comes as demand for Apple’s first foldable iPhone puts pressure on supply. Verizon’s own launch announcement said iPhone Duo pre-orders began on 16 October, with wider availability starting on 23 October.2 Apple has also warned that delivery dates for new orders can stretch much further out, making carrier stock and fulfilment timelines particularly difficult to predict.1
Affected customers can check their order status through the My Verizon website or app. The carrier has not said how many orders are involved, so the $100 offer currently applies only to customers it identifies as affected.1
What this means for buyers
The apology does not bring forward a revised delivery date. It is compensation for the inconvenience, while Verizon continues to fulfil the original orders. Anyone waiting should check the latest estimate in their Verizon account rather than assuming the phone will arrive on the date shown at pre-order.1
Our opinion
A $100 gift card is a meaningful gesture, but it does not erase the frustration of planning around a launch-day delivery that quietly slips by weeks. Verizon is at least being direct about the problem and preserving customers’ place in line. The important detail is the scope: this is not a blanket iPhone Duo delay, so buyers should verify their own order before drawing conclusions from the wider rollout.
