Apple's iPhone Duo pickup slots return, but availability is scarce

Apple Store pickup has briefly returned for the iPhone Duo in several countries, although most locations still have little or no immediate stock.

Apple Store pickup slots for the iPhone Duo have returned in several markets, but availability remains extremely limited. MacRumors reports that pickup resumed in the United States and Canada for a few minutes early on 24 October, with most stores showing no same-day reservation slots. 1

The pickup option has also reappeared in Australia, the United Kingdom, Germany, Spain, Italy, the Netherlands, Singapore, Japan, China and other markets, according to the report. Customers can check by opening Apple’s official iPhone Duo order page, choosing a colour and storage configuration, then selecting the pickup option and entering a postcode or ZIP code. 2

The brief return matters because delivery estimates for the new foldable phone have already moved deep into the future in some regions. MacRumors says Apple described demand as “nothing short of extraordinary” after pre-orders began on 16 October, while queues formed at some Apple Stores around the world. 1

Apple’s own shop page lists the iPhone Duo from $1,999 in the United States, with 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB storage options. The same page displays the product in its available colour choices and includes the pickup route used to check local stock. 2 Pickup eligibility is inventory-dependent, so seeing the option on the order page does not guarantee that a reservation can be completed.

How to check availability

The quickest route is Apple’s iPhone Duo order page rather than a general Apple Store search. Select the model, finish and storage capacity, then open the pickup option and enter the location details for the store you want. Availability can disappear while an order is being configured, particularly when only a small number of appointment slots are released.

This is a stock update, not a change to the phone’s advertised price or a promise that every region will receive new inventory at the same time. Apple’s page also continues to offer delivery and financing information, so customers should compare those options with the local pickup window rather than assuming pickup is the only route.

Our opinion

The return of pickup is useful, but the short-lived windows underline how constrained iPhone Duo supply still is. Apple appears to be releasing stock in small, uneven batches rather than restoring normal availability. That makes the official order page the only sensible place to check, and it also means a retailer screenshot can become outdated almost immediately.
