Samsung expands its Android 17-based One UI 9 beta to more Galaxy phones
The One UI 9 beta is expanding to Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7 and S25-series devices in the UK, US, India and Korea.
Samsung is widening the One UI 9 beta to more Galaxy phones, giving owners of recent foldables and S25-series handsets an early look at the company’s Android 17 software cycle.
The beta is available in selected markets including the UK, US, India and Korea. Samsung has not announced a stable-release date, and beta software is unfinished by definition — exciting for testers, less exciting if your phone is also your alarm clock.
What's actually going on
Samsung is adding the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S25 FE to the One UI 9 beta programme. The beta began with the Galaxy S26 series in May.
Registration is handled through the Samsung Members app. Samsung says availability and timing can vary by market, so a compatible model does not automatically guarantee that every owner will see the same invitation at the same time.
9to5Google reports that One UI 9 is based on Android 17 and confirms the broader device expansion. Samsung’s announcement does not provide a final public-release schedule or a complete list of features that will survive into the finished version.
Users considering the beta should expect bugs, compatibility problems and changes before release. Samsung’s beta programme is a testing route, not a promise that every feature or performance improvement is final.
Why you should care
Software support is becoming a major part of the phone-buying decision. Extending the beta to foldables and last year’s flagships suggests Samsung wants more of its premium user base testing the same Android generation before the wider rollout.
For UK owners, the inclusion of the UK is the useful detail. It means interested testers do not need to rely on unofficial firmware or region-changing tricks, although Samsung Members remains the gatekeeper.
Our opinion
A wider beta is good news, provided Samsung remembers that “beta” is not a synonym for “ready”. If you enjoy testing new features and can tolerate the occasional software wobble, One UI 9 is worth a look.
Everyone else should wait for the stable release. Your Galaxy will not become a pumpkin because you skip the beta, and Samsung still has to prove that Android 17 brings meaningful improvements rather than another fresh coat of interface paint.
