Samsung's Certified Re-Newed Galaxy S26 starts at $759

Samsung has added the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra to its Certified Re-Newed line-up, putting refurbished versions of its current flagships on sale through Samsung.com from $759.

Certified Re-Newed handsets are rebuilt by Samsung engineers with a brand-new battery and what the company calls 100% Samsung genuine parts, and they carry the same one-year limited warranty that comes with a new phone. Buyers can add Samsung Care+ with Theft and Loss for accident and screen cover, and trade in an older handset for up to $720 in credit.

What you pay, and what you get

The Re-Newed Galaxy S26 starts at $759, the S26+ at $929 and the S26 Ultra at $1,099. All three come in White, Sky Blue, Pink Gold, Black, Silver Shadow and Cobalt Violet, and all three use the same current-generation silicon: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 Mobile Platform for Galaxy, paired with the Galaxy AI features Samsung is leaning on this cycle, including Now Nudge and Now Brief. For reference, Samsung's own store lists the new Galaxy S26 at $899, so the Re-Newed route is roughly $140 cheaper at the bottom of the range.

Certified re-sale is not a fringe activity any more

The economics behind manufacturer refurbishment are straightforward. A phone loses value fastest in its first year, and a company that rebuilds and resells its own hardware keeps both the margin and the customer instead of handing them to a third-party marketplace. Adding the current S26 series to that programme gives Samsung a second price point for the same product, which is a useful thing to have in a year when flagship prices are the thing buyers complain about most.

Our opinion

Two details make this more than a clearance rack. The first is the one-year limited warranty, matching a new handset rather than the 90-day cover that usually signals a refurbisher hedging its bets. The second is the brand-new battery, because on any two-year-old phone the battery is the part that has actually worn out. What is worth noticing is who benefits from the framing: Samsung makes the phone, sets the price of the new one, sets the price of the rebuilt one and runs the trade-in credit that funnels the old handset back to its own refurbishing line. That is a tidy loop, and it means the $140 gap is a number Samsung chose rather than a market rate it had to accept. European buyers should not read this as a policy shift either — right-to-repair rules have been pushing manufacturers towards repairability, but availability and pricing of Certified Re-Newed stock remain a market-by-market affair, and the S26 addition announced this week is a US programme sold only on Samsung.com.
