Samsung reveals Galaxy devices eligible for One UI 9

Samsung’s One UI 9 compatibility list reaches back to Galaxy S23 phones and several recent Galaxy tablets, but regional rollout dates can still change.

Samsung has published a regional compatibility list for One UI 9, giving owners of older Galaxy phones and tablets a clearer idea of whether Android 17-based software is coming to their device. The rollout began with Samsung’s newest foldables and tablets, but the Japanese newsroom says models dating back to the Galaxy S23 generation are now in scope.

Which Galaxy phones are included

Samsung’s list covers the Galaxy S26, S26+, S26 Ultra, S25, S25 Ultra, S24, S24 Ultra, S24 FE, S23 and S23 Ultra. It also includes the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, Z Fold6, Z Flip6, Z Fold5 and Z Flip5, alongside selected A-series phones: the A57, A55, A54, A36 and A25.

The list is regional rather than a universal promise. Samsung Japan says the rollout timing can change without notice, and availability may vary by market, carrier and model. Devices missing from the published list are not automatically ruled out; Samsung could add more models or publish different schedules for other regions.

Which Galaxy tablets are included

The tablet list stretches across Samsung’s recent premium and mid-range hardware. It names the Galaxy Tab S11 and S11 Ultra, the Tab S10 family, Tab S10 FE and FE+, Tab S10 Lite, Tab S9, Tab S9+ and Tab S9 Ultra, plus the Tab S9 FE and FE+.

Samsung also lists the Tab S6 Lite (2024), Tab A11, Tab A11+ 5G and Tab Active 5 Pro. The company notes that individual One UI 9 features can differ by device, even when the software update itself is supported.

What One UI 9 adds

One UI 9 is Samsung’s Android 17-based interface update. Samsung highlights expanded Galaxy AI features, new customisation tools and stronger security and privacy controls. Its announcement also describes features including improved Now Brief cards, creative tools, document scanning and a refreshed Quick Panel.

The newest foldables, Galaxy S26 models and Tab S12 series are also scheduled to receive Japanese-language support for Gemini Intelligence task automation. Samsung says the feature can help users move through tasks such as booking a taxi or ordering food, although supported apps and availability depend on market, language and device.

The company’s list is useful because it separates broad software eligibility from the much messier question of when an update will actually arrive. Samsung says the timetable may change, so Galaxy owners should treat the models as the current compatibility guide rather than a guaranteed delivery date.

Our opinion

Publishing a model list is more helpful than leaving owners to guess, particularly for the Galaxy S23 generation and older tablets. The caveat is that a supported device is only the first part of the story: regional schedules, carrier testing and feature differences still matter. Samsung’s announcement gives users a sensible starting point, but the update screen remains the final authority for an individual phone or tablet.
