POCO F9 Ultra arrives with an 8,050mAh battery
POCO's new flagship pairs a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with a 6.9-inch 185Hz AMOLED screen, a 200MP stabilised main camera, Bose-tuned speakers and 100W charging.
POCO has listed the F9 Ultra on its global store, and the headline number is battery capacity: 8,050mAh, charged at 100W over a wire or 50W wirelessly. The phone replaces the F8 Ultra and keeps Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 at its core, built on a 3nm process with a peak clock speed of 4.6GHz.
Screen and gaming
The 6.9-inch AMOLED panel runs at 185Hz, and POCO pairs it with a VisionBoost D8 chipset whose GEX module uses pre-trained models for image enhancement and motion interpolation, which the company rates up to 185fps. Cooling comes from a 3D IceLoop system with a 6,300mm² vapour chamber and 17,820mm² of graphite, which POCO says holds the chipset around 3°C cooler under sustained load.
Cameras and audio
A 200MP main camera with optical image stabilisation leads the rear array, supported by a 5x telephoto that is also stabilised. Audio is handled by symmetrical stereo speakers with an independent subwoofer, tuned with Bose — an unusual badge to find on a phone that is not chasing four-figure pricing.
Our opinion
POCO's pitch has always been flagship silicon at a mid-range ask, and the F9 Ultra leans into the parts you notice after a week rather than on a spec sheet: battery, screen and speakers. An 8,050mAh cell with 100W charging is the sort of number that makes a nightly charging routine unnecessary, and 185Hz on a 6.9-inch AMOLED is more than a marketing figure for anyone who games on their phone. The question the F9 Ultra has to answer is the one its predecessor left open, which is whether POCO's camera tuning can finally match the hardware it is bolted to.
