Lenovo LOQ Essential laptop reaches North America with 165Hz display
Lenovo’s LOQ Essential 15IRH11 brings a 165Hz display, RTX 3050 graphics and upgradeable storage to buyers in the US and Canada.
Lenovo has expanded the LOQ Essential 15IRH11 gaming laptop into North America, giving US and Canadian buyers access to a budget-focused machine with a 165Hz display and a 75W GeForce RTX 3050 laptop GPU. The model had already launched in Europe, but this regional expansion gives the same entry-level platform a wider market. 1
The laptop pairs Intel’s 10-core Core 7 230H processor with 16GB of DDR5-5200 memory and a 512GB M.2 2242 SSD. Lenovo’s official product page identifies the machine as the LOQ Essential 15IRH11, while Notebookcheck reports the North American configuration and pricing. 2
What the LOQ Essential offers
The headline feature is a 15-inch 1200p IPS panel running at 165Hz. Lenovo lists 300 nits of peak brightness, full sRGB coverage and an anti-glare coating in the reported configuration. That combination is aimed squarely at players who want smoother motion in competitive games without paying for a premium high-resolution panel.
Graphics duties fall to a 4GB GeForce RTX 3050 laptop GPU rated at 75W, with a further 15W available through Dynamic Boost. It is an older entry-level GPU rather than a modern high-end option, so expectations need to stay realistic: the LOQ Essential is built for sensible 1080p and 1200p gaming settings, not maximum ray tracing or future-proofed 4K play.
The machine also includes a 60Wh battery, and Notebookcheck says its RAM and storage can be upgraded. That matters more on a budget laptop than a flashy specification-sheet extra. A replaceable SSD and expandable memory can extend the useful life of the machine, particularly when 512GB fills quickly with modern game installs.
Lenovo’s US product listing shows the same LOQ Essential 15IRH11 family, while the reported North American configuration is priced at $1,476.99 in the US and CAD 1,910.99 in Canada. Regional pricing can move quickly, so those figures should be treated as the launch listing rather than a permanent recommendation. 12
Our opinion
The LOQ Essential 15IRH11 looks most interesting as an expandable entry point rather than a performance bargain. A 165Hz screen and upgradeable memory and storage are useful, tangible benefits, but the RTX 3050 is already a modest foundation and the reported North American price puts the laptop in a part of the market where newer GPUs may compete during sales.
That makes the configuration worth watching, especially for buyers who value Lenovo’s product support and want a straightforward gaming laptop rather than an ultra-thin machine. It is not automatically the best deal at its listed price, though. The sensible verdict is to compare current discounts and GPU alternatives before buying, with the upgrade path doing much of the LOQ Essential’s case for it.
