IFA 2026: XGRIDS brings one-minute iPhone 3D scanning to LCC Scan
XGRIDS says its LCC Scan iPhone app can turn a one-minute capture into an interactive photorealistic 3D model locally, without cloud uploads or generation fees.
XGRIDS is bringing 3D capture to a device many people already carry in their pockets. LCC Scan is an iPhone app that turns a short walk around a person, object or space into a photorealistic 3D model, with capture, processing and storage handled locally on the phone.
The company says a typical capture takes about one minute, while generation takes roughly two to three minutes depending on the iPhone. Users follow on-screen guidance while moving around their subject, then explore the finished result from different viewpoints. XGRIDS says there is no cloud upload, generation fee or stated limit on the number of models users can create.
From phone video to interactive 3D
LCC Scan offers Portrait, Object and Free capture modes for different subjects. The aim is to remove the specialist hardware and technical workflow traditionally associated with photogrammetry and 3D content creation. XGRIDS says the app uses 3D Gaussian Splatting techniques to create detailed, photorealistic spatial content directly on the iPhone.
The results are designed to be more than static models. Users can move around a captured subject, create videos from customised viewpoints and export content for sharing or further creative work. Possible uses include spatial memories, immersive storytelling, social content, digital preservation, game development, XR projects, architecture and education.
There is also a privacy-friendly angle to the local workflow. XGRIDS says capture, processing and storage remain on the user’s iPhone, with no cloud upload required. That does not automatically answer every question about app permissions or local file handling, but it is a more reassuring starting point than sending every scan to a remote server by default.
IFA 2026 availability
XGRIDS introduced LCC Scan at Global Connect Show @ IFA 2026 in Berlin. The app is available for iPhone through the App Store, and the company’s product page provides further information. XGRIDS says its wider spatial-computing ecosystem serves more than 8,000 customers across over 80 countries, with applications spanning filmmaking, games, XR, architecture, simulation, embodied AI and cultural heritage.
Our opinion
LCC Scan is the sort of practical spatial-computing idea that could matter more than another flashy AI demo. If the capture guidance is forgiving and the results hold together when you turn around the model, an iPhone app could make 3D memories and creative experiments wonderfully ordinary. The important caveat is quality: photorealistic marketing language is not the same as clean geometry, and we still need to test difficult subjects, motion, reflective surfaces and older iPhones. For now, XGRIDS has made 3D capture look approachable — and that is a much better pitch than asking everyone to buy a scanner first.
