Samsung Galaxy S27 heads to India after BIS certification
A BIS listing for the Samsung Galaxy S27 suggests an India launch is progressing, but the certification reveals no specifications.
The standard Samsung Galaxy S27 has cleared India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), according to a new GSMArena report. The certification does not reveal specifications, but it is another sign that Samsung’s next flagship phone is moving through the approvals process ahead of its expected launch cycle.1
The listing identifies the phone as model SM-S952B/DS. GSMArena reports that the same model has previously appeared in other databases with a 6.3-inch display, Samsung’s Exynos 2700 chipset, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Those details remain reported specifications rather than Samsung-confirmed features.1
What the certification tells us
BIS approval is primarily a regulatory step. It indicates that this model has been submitted to India’s standards authority, but it does not confirm a launch date, retail price or final specification list. The listing also does not establish whether the Galaxy S27 will launch in India at the same time as other regions.
The certification is nevertheless useful because the Galaxy S27 has now appeared in multiple regulatory databases. Its Chinese 3C certification was previously reported to indicate 25W wired charging, with that figure later corroborated by UL Solutions, according to GSMArena. If accurate, that would match the Galaxy S26 rather than represent a charging upgrade.1
The same report says the phone is expected to use a 50MP main camera with a Sony sensor, replacing the Samsung ISOCELL sensor used in its predecessor. A 12MP ultrawide camera, 10MP telephoto camera and 12MP selfie camera are also expected to return, although none of those details has been confirmed by Samsung.1
Samsung has not announced the Galaxy S27, and the company’s official newsroom is still focused on the current Galaxy S26 generation. That means this report should be read as certification and supply-chain evidence, not as a product announcement. The Pexels image used here is illustrative and does not depict the Galaxy S27.
Our opinion
The BIS listing makes an India launch look increasingly plausible, but it does not make the phone itself any less mysterious. Certification sightings are useful for establishing that hardware exists and is being prepared for sale; they are much weaker evidence for features, pricing or Samsung’s launch strategy.
The reported 25W charging speed is the detail worth watching. Samsung’s regular Galaxy S line has often prioritised refinement over headline specifications, but a new flagship repeating the previous generation’s charging limit would leave it looking conservative beside rivals. Until Samsung publishes an official specification sheet, the sensible conclusion is simply that the Galaxy S27 is progressing through the regulatory pipeline.
