IFA 2026: OlloBot unveils OlloNi SS1, a cyber pet built around emotional memory

OlloBot has arrived at IFA 2026 with a companion robot that is not interested in vacuuming your floor, carrying your shopping or pretending to be useful while quietly getting stuck under the sofa. The company is showcasing OlloNi SS1, a new cyber pet designed to offer emotional companionship through touch, voice and movement.

The small companion robot is built around a soft, rounded design that looks far more approachable than the average slab of smart-home hardware. OlloBot says OlloNi SS1 is powered by EmpathCore, its proprietary emotional engine, with the simple loop of perceive, understand and companion at its centre.

What’s actually going on

According to OlloBot’s official IFA exhibitor profile, OlloNi SS1 uses Affinilog, an emotional memory system intended to learn a user’s tone, habits and changing mood. The company says it can remember how a person likes to be touched, recognise when they need quiet and become more attuned through repeated interactions.

OlloBot also describes a Memory Heart Module, which it presents as a record of shared moments rather than ordinary cold data storage. The company’s language is deliberately emotional: SS1 is supposed to feel less like a device and more like a small living presence in the home.

The robot is designed to respond to touch, voice and movement. OlloBot says its gestures are tuned to appear less mechanical, including head tilts, a nuzzle into a hand and other small reactions intended to make the interaction feel natural. It also promotes simple games and light-hearted activities for individual or family interaction.

Changeable costumes add another layer to the character. Dressing OlloNi SS1 in different outfits makes it feel more personal and sociable, turning the robot into something owners can customise, photograph and show off rather than an anonymous box that happens to have an AI inside.

Why you should care

The companion-robot market is moving beyond machines defined by one practical task. A robot vacuum needs to map a room and find its dock; a cyber pet needs to be engaging without becoming irritating, responsive without becoming creepy and memorable without demanding the emotional commitment of an actual animal.

OlloNi SS1 is therefore an interesting test of whether AI can create a sense of continuity through small behaviours and remembered preferences. The idea is not just to answer questions, but to become a familiar presence that reacts differently because it has learned something about the person in front of it.

There are still important unanswered questions. OlloBot has not confirmed a final retail price, full international availability, the precise sensors inside SS1 or how its emotional memory and voice data are handled. The company’s claims about mood recognition and increasingly natural interaction also need independent testing rather than a glossy booth demonstration.

Our opinion

OlloNi SS1 is one of the more memorable robots at IFA because it understands that companionship is partly about personality and presentation. Its soft design, expressive movements and changeable costumes make it look cute, approachable and genuinely sociable.

The hard part comes after the first smile. OlloBot needs to prove that EmpathCore and Affinilog create meaningful interaction instead of a handful of animated reactions wrapped in emotional marketing. For now, OlloNi SS1 is worth watching — a charming cyber pet on paper, with plenty still to prove before it earns a permanent place in the home.
