Mobile Pixels Prisma packs a Mac mini into a 40-inch 5K monitor
Mobile Pixels' Prisma combines a 40-inch curved 5K2K display with a Mac mini cradle, dock, storage bay and charging pad in a Kickstarter campaign.
Mobile Pixels has launched a Kickstarter campaign for Prisma, a 40-inch curved 5K2K monitor that folds a dock, storage bay, charging pad and computer cradle into one desktop display.12 The campaign is aimed at people who want a large workstation without assembling a separate monitor, dock, hub and charger stack.
What Prisma includes
The display uses a 5120 × 1440 LG IPS Black panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, 99% DCI-P3 coverage and support for 1.07 billion colours, according to Mobile Pixels' launch material.1 It also includes a built-in KVM switch, Picture-by-Picture and Picture-in-Picture modes, plus USB-C, USB-A, USB-B, SD and microSD connections.1
A built-in M.2 slot provides expandable storage, while the stand houses a cradle for a Mac mini or Mac Studio. The campaign material also describes a 15W wireless charging pad, an adaptive cooling fan for a docked computer and a retractable iPhone mount for Continuity Camera features.1 Windows PCs and laptops are supported as well, so the Mac-focused design is not an exclusive requirement.
Kickstarter pricing and caveats
TechRadar reports that Prisma is being offered through Kickstarter at $999 during a limited early-bird allocation, against a stated $1,600 retail price.2 The campaign page is the place to check the current allocation, delivery estimate and final specifications, because crowdfunding prices and availability can change. TechRadar says delivery is estimated for January 2027 and notes that backing a campaign does not guarantee delivery.2
The product is therefore more than a conventional monitor announcement: it is a pitch for replacing several desk accessories with one very large display. That could appeal to creators and developers who value a clean setup, but the size, delivery risk and untested final hardware matter more here than a long feature list.
Our opinion
Prisma is an unusually coherent idea on paper. A 40-inch 5K2K screen, Mac mini cradle and integrated connectivity address a real desk-organisation problem rather than adding another novelty gadget. The catch is that this is still a crowdfunded product, not a shipping retail monitor. Until independent testing confirms the panel, cooling, software and build quality, the sensible takeaway is that Prisma is an ambitious campaign worth watching—not a purchase recommendation.
Mobile Pixels says the display is designed for Mac and Windows workstations, with the campaign handling early access and pricing.1 Readers considering backing it should review the live Kickstarter terms, shipping charges and refund conditions before committing.
