ARC's X1 handheld gets full specs and a 2 October date
ARC has revealed the complete specifications of the X1, its first gaming handheld, with Early Access on 2 October at ₹29,500 and a regular price of ₹33,500.

ARC has published the complete specification list for the X1, its first gaming handheld, and confirmed that Early Access starts on 2 October at ₹29,500 for its early waitlist community, with a regular price of ₹33,500 once that window closes. The Indian hardware startup says the device has spent 16 months in development.

The X1 runs on Qualcomm's Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 platform with 8GB of LPDDR5X memory and 128GB of UFS 3.1 storage, expandable to 1TB with a microSDXC card. The screen is a 7-inch Full HD LTPS TFT LCD at 1920 × 1080 and 120Hz, with 500 nits of typical brightness, roughly 100% sRGB coverage, a 16:9 aspect ratio and Gorilla Glass 3 over the top. ARC says the panel was built around gaming rather than borrowed from a tablet.
The controls are where ARC has spent real money. The analogue sticks are TMR units the company describes as zero-drift, paired with analogue Hall-effect triggers and mechanical trigger locks, microswitch ABXY buttons, a microswitch D-pad, two programmable rear buttons and dual LRA haptics. Around that sits a 9,300mAh battery with 27W USB PD charging and an 80% charge limit for long-term battery health, active cooling from a centrifugal fan with rear intake and top exhaust, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.4, USB-C with display output and a 3.5mm headphone jack. ARC is also promising a replaceable battery and stick caps, modular daughterboards and spare parts availability, and puts the weight at 450–500g.
Snapdragon G2 Gen 2, in plain English
Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 is the middle of Qualcomm's handheld line-up, sitting below the flagship G3 Gen 3, and it is aimed at mobile, console and cloud gaming rather than at desktop-class performance. Qualcomm's product brief lists a Kryo eight-core CPU, an Adreno A22 GPU and support for QHD+ at up to 144Hz, and the company claims 2.3 times the CPU speed and 3.8 times the GPU speed of the first G2. What matters in a handheld is sustained performance per watt, because a device that throttles after 20 minutes is a device you stop picking up. That makes the boring parts of this spec sheet the interesting ones. TMR sticks read position magnetically instead of using the carbon potentiometers that wear out in cheap controllers, which is the difference between a stick that still centres itself in three years and one that drifts. Hall-effect triggers work the same way, and LRA haptics are the motor type phones use — quicker and more precise than the spinning motors still common on budget handhelds.
Our opinion
ARC has made a bet most first-time hardware companies get wrong. Rather than chasing the fastest chip, it has spent money where handhelds actually break — sticks, triggers, motors and a battery you can replace — and it is selling a mid-tier platform on the strength of that. ₹33,500 is real money for a handheld, and buyers are being asked to back an unproven operating system from a company with one product. There are gaps worth watching: ARC lists Wi-Fi 6E where the Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 supports Wi-Fi 7, 128GB of base storage is thin when modern Android games arrive in double-digit gigabytes, and there is no word yet on international availability or how long OwlOS will be supported. The hardware list is thoughtful enough to earn a proper look, which is exactly why this deserves a wait-and-see rather than a pre-order. If OwlOS holds up in reviews, the X1 is the most interesting gaming handheld to come out of India so far.
