Nvidia’s Jensen Huang says AI has reached its commercial turning point
The Nvidia CEO says businesses are moving from AI experiments to infrastructure that produces measurable revenue.
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang says artificial intelligence has moved beyond the experimental phase and entered a period of genuine commercial monetisation.
According to reporting cited by IT Home, Huang told Nvidia’s latest earnings call that AI has reached an “inflection point”, with companies integrating generative AI into core operations.
From models to AI factories
Huang’s shorthand is “In AI, compute is revenue”. He argues that data centres are becoming AI factories: facilities that continuously produce digital intelligence for software, finance, medicine and other industries.
That shift changes the conversation from how impressive a model looks in a demonstration to whether it creates enough productivity or income to justify the hardware bill.
A global infrastructure race
The investment is spreading beyond Silicon Valley. Governments and traditional industries are building sovereign AI capabilities and treating compute infrastructure as strategic equipment rather than just another IT purchase.
The claim is optimistic, and it comes from the executive whose company sells much of the hardware powering the boom. Actual returns will vary widely between sectors and projects.
Our opinion
Huang is right that AI has moved into the spending phase. The more uncomfortable question is whether every project labelled an AI factory will produce useful work, or merely consume electricity while generating a very expensive dashboard.
The commercial turning point will be real when ordinary companies can show repeatable gains rather than impressive pilot demos. Nvidia’s position gives Huang reason to sound confident, but customers still need to prove the economics for themselves.
AI is becoming infrastructure. That makes it more important, less magical and considerably harder to excuse when it does not deliver.
