xTool X1 combines CO₂, diode and modular lasers in one desktop platform
xTool has unveiled the X1, an all-in-one laser platform designed to combine high-speed engraving, wide-format cutting and expandable laser modules.

xTool wants to turn the desktop laser workshop into a small factory. The company has introduced the X1, an all-in-one laser platform that combines fast engraving, large-format cutting and modular laser expansion in one desktop system.
What’s actually going on: xTool unveiled the X1 at its Global Tech Launch in Düsseldorf, Germany, on 28 August 2026. The company says the machine is designed for ambitious makers, laser enthusiasts and small businesses that currently need separate machines for engraving, cutting and different material types.
The X1 combines a 55W CO₂ laser head with a galvo head integrated with a 20W diode laser. xTool says its Hybrid Motion system synchronises gantry movement and galvo scanning through a four-axis architecture, reaching claimed processing speeds of up to 6,000 millimetres per second across a wide-format working area.
The platform is also designed for expansion. xTool says its Laser Swap system can support optional 30W fibre, 60W MOPA and 5W UV modules, alongside future laser sources, routing them through a shared optical path into a central galvo head.
To support the motion system, xTool says the X1 uses a UniCast Frame made from automotive-grade aluminium alloy through 4,000-ton high-pressure die casting. The company says the design replaces almost 100 traditional assembled parts and more than 268 screws with three larger die-cast structures.
Those are manufacturer claims rather than independent test results. The release does not provide comparative benchmarks, noise or power figures, safety certification details, UK/EU retail pricing, a shipping date or a full consumer specification sheet.
Why you should care: desktop fabrication usually involves compromises. A gantry machine offers a larger working area, while galvo systems can engrave quickly but are not always suited to every cutting task. xTool’s pitch is that one modular chassis can cover more of those jobs without forcing a growing maker business to buy and maintain several machines.
That flexibility could appeal to small shops producing signs, gifts and personalised goods, but modularity is only valuable if the optional heads are affordable, easy to install and supported for years. Until xTool publishes the price and upgrade costs, the X1 is an ambitious platform rather than a confirmed bargain.
Our opinion
The xTool X1 sounds like a laser workshop’s attempt to evolve into a Swiss Army knife, and the modular approach is genuinely interesting. But “up to 6,000 mm/s” is launch-event language until somebody independent measures it, and the missing price matters enormously. Watch this space, but do not clear room in the studio just yet.
