Hohem’s Eyepic turns a pocket gimbal into a wearable 4K action camera

Hohem’s Eyepic splits the difference between a pocket gimbal and a wearable action camera. The camera unit detaches for hands-free shooting, while the handle remains a stabiliser and remote.

What’s actually going on

CineD reports that the Eyepic is a handheld three-axis gimbal camera whose detachable recording unit clips to a cap or lanyard, records full-resolution vertical 4K up to 2160×3840 at 60 frames per second and is rated waterproof to 10 metres. With the camera removed, the gimbal retracts and locks automatically, and the handle becomes a remote with a 2.51-inch touchscreen and a 1080p live preview from up to 10 metres away. It was announced at IFA 2026 alongside two AI smartphone gimbals and a four-transmitter wireless microphone system.

Why you should care

Native vertical capture avoids throwing away resolution through a crop, which matters when the footage is destined for TikTok, Reels or Shorts. The detachable design could replace two separate creator gadgets, although image quality, battery life and pricing still need testing.

Our opinion

This is one of the more inventive camera accessories of the show. It needs hands-on testing before a recommendation, but it solves a real problem rather than adding AI for decoration.
