GOGOX plans RMB1 sale of mainland China freight-app business
GOGOX says Kuaigou Dache will keep operating under new ownership after the listed parent agreed to sell its mainland China business for RMB1.
GOGOX, the listed parent of Kuaigou Dache, has conditionally agreed to sell its mainland China business for RMB1 (roughly £0.11 at current exchange rates), according to an October 16 Hong Kong filing. The deal still needs to satisfy its conditions and receive shareholder approval, so this is a proposed ownership change rather than an immediate shutdown.1
Kuaigou Dache is a mainland freight and moving platform. The business generated RMB44 million in revenue in the first half of 2026, but recorded a RMB49.3 million loss after tax and reported net liabilities of RMB2.48 million. GOGOX plans to rename itself GOGO Technology and focus on Hong Kong and other overseas markets after leaving mainland China.1
Ownership change, not an app shutdown
The RMB1 headline makes the transaction sound like a fire sale, but GOGOX later clarified that only ownership is changing. Kuaigou Dache is expected to continue operating under its new owner rather than disappear from app stores or stop serving customers.2
The retreat follows years of difficult competition. Kuaigou’s roots go back to 58 Suyun, a freight business associated with 58.com. It merged with Hong Kong-founded GOGOVAN in 2017, and the combined company adopted the Kuaigou Dache name in 2018.3
The platform also struggled to match the scale of better-funded rivals. A 2021 filing put Kuaigou at 3.2% of mainland China’s online intra-city logistics market by transaction value, compared with 52.8% for Lalamove and 5.5% for Didi Freight.1 A later estimate using a different market definition put Kuaigou’s 2025 share at 0.5%, versus 61% for Lalamove and 12.4% for Didi Freight.3 Those figures are not directly comparable, but they point in the same direction: the gap remained substantial.
Why the freight-app market is so hard
Freight marketplaces depend on density. Shippers want a truck available at the right place and time, while drivers want enough jobs to justify staying on a platform. Discounts and lower commissions can attract users temporarily, but they do not solve the underlying network problem.
Kuaigou spent heavily to build that network. In 2018, it spent RMB524 million on sales and marketing against RMB453 million in revenue, according to the report. GOGOX later cited intensifying competition and weaker-than-expected mainland growth when explaining its planned exit.1
The ownership transfer therefore looks less like a sudden collapse than a strategic retreat after a costly fight for market share. The new owner may see value in Kuaigou’s brand, customers or operating infrastructure, but the transaction also shows how difficult it is for a smaller platform to catch a market leader once the leader has the denser network.
Our opinion
GOGOX’s proposed RMB1 sale is a useful reminder that an app can remain operational while its parent decides the business is no longer worth funding. The important story is not the price alone; it is the failure to turn marketing spend and matching technology into enough repeat demand. Kuaigou Dache may still have a future under new ownership, but its buyer inherits the same density problem that made the mainland business so difficult to sustain.
