Geespace turns China’s satellite push into a connected-car service

Geely’s Geespace is reportedly bringing low-Earth-orbit satellite connectivity into cars, turning space infrastructure into a possible connected-vehicle service.

Pandaily reports a commercial trial licence from China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and a demonstration on the Galaxy Warship 700. The licence document, coverage, pricing, compatibility and rollout markets remain unconfirmed.

Why you should care

Satellite connectivity could help cars communicate outside conventional mobile coverage, but a demonstration is not a dependable consumer service. Hardware, spectrum and subscription costs still matter.
