Apple TV 4K gets Siri AI and a smarter Siri Remote
Apple’s fourth-generation Apple TV 4K brings Siri AI, an A19 chip and a remote you can finally find.
Apple is bringing a more conversational Siri to the living room, alongside a faster new Apple TV 4K and a smarter remote. The new box is available to pre-order now and launches on November 13 in the US and UK. 1
Siri AI comes to Apple TV
The new Apple TV 4K uses Apple Intelligence to power a full-screen Siri AI experience for finding films and TV shows. Apple says viewers can ask follow-up questions while watching, search using personal context from a paired Apple Intelligence-enabled iPhone or iPad, and get summaries of activity from HomeKit Secure Video cameras. 1
Siri AI will also arrive in beta on the second-generation Apple TV 4K and later, running an upcoming tvOS 27.2 beta. It is initially limited to English in the US, Australia, Canada, India, New Zealand, Singapore, South Africa and the UK. 2
A faster box and a smarter remote
The fourth-generation Apple TV 4K is powered by Apple’s A19 chip. Apple claims up to 50 per cent faster CPU performance and up to twice the graphics performance compared with the previous model, plus a dedicated AV1 decoder for more efficient streaming. 1
The redesigned Siri Remote keeps its familiar shape but adds Find My support with Precision Finding and a speaker that can play a sound when the remote goes missing. The box also gains three far-field microphones for hands-free Siri control. 1
What it means for existing owners
The useful bit is that Apple is not locking Siri AI to the new hardware. Owners of the second-generation Apple TV 4K and newer models will be able to try it in beta, although they will need compatible Apple Intelligence hardware and the latest software. 1
The new Apple TV 4K starts at $299 in the US, with 128GB of storage, Wi-Fi 7 and Gigabit Ethernet. Apple says pre-orders are open now and availability begins November 13. 1
Our opinion
This is a more meaningful update than a new processor alone suggests. Siri AI could make Apple TV’s sprawling catalogue easier to search, while a properly locatable remote fixes one of the most irritating small problems in a living room. The beta and regional language limits mean it is not a finished transformation yet, but the fact that existing recent Apple TV models are included keeps the upgrade from feeling needlessly disposable.
